Legal Geek Europe 2026: Amsterdam Once Again at the Centre of the Global Legal Transformation
On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, Amsterdam hosted one of the most significant events in the world of legal technology “Legal Geek Europe”, the leading continental gathering for law firm and in-house legal leaders, bringing together voices from Benelux, Scandinavia, Germany, and beyond. The conference once again confirmed its reputation as the place where the future of the legal profession takes shape.
More than 1,500 legal professionals filled the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam, creating an atmosphere that blends serious professional debate with a dynamic exchange of ideas. Doors opened at 8:30am, with stage content running from 10:00am to 4:00pm, followed by networking and a drinks reception until 6:30pm.
Agenda and Formats: From TED Talks to Workshops
Organisers once again delivered a varied programme spread across three stages, featuring workshops, roundtables, panel discussions, and TED-style talks. Alongside the classic formats, the conference included one of Legal Geek’s signature touches — silent disco sessions, where attendees choose their topic via headset — as well as live demonstrations of the latest legal technologies.
Talks covered topics that strike at the heart of modern practice: from redesigning legal teams in the age of artificial intelligence, through change management, to the economics of new billing models. A particularly noted session was “From Expert to Coach: Redefining Legal Value in the Age of AI”, inviting lawyers to move from the role of risk-minimising expert to strategic value-creating partner. Also widely discussed was “From Pilot to Scale” on how legal organisations can move generative AI initiatives from pilot stage to full operational deployment.
Key Themes and Trends
Four thematic pillars dominated the programme: people, culture and organisational change; tech landscape, tool selection and implementation; compliance, regulation and market readiness; and billing models, economic and business impact.
Behind each of these themes lies a deeper tension running through the entire event: AI is changing not just the tools, but the business model of law itself. When work that used to take ten hours now takes one, who benefits and who absorbs the cost? This question of economic redistribution of value was the thread running through almost every discussion.
Particular attention was drawn to the implementation debate the prevailing view was that most legal tech projects fail not because the software is wrong, but because people are not ready for change. Hence the strong emphasis on culture, education, and change management as prerequisites for successful adoption.

Among the notable names were representatives from Norton Rose Fulbright, A&O Shearman, NautaDutilh, Booking.com, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, ASML, Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, and others. The conference brought together senior decision makers from 65 countries.

Legal Geek Europe 2026 once again confirmed that the transformation of the legal profession is not futuristic speculation, but an everyday reality that lawyers are already navigating. The questions that dominated Amsterdam how to measure AI ROI, how to redesign teams, how to handle the regulatory pressures of the EU AI Act are not academic, but existential for every modern law firm and in-house legal team.
